Flat Leaf Springs
« on: Mar 10, 2011, 12:35:51 PM »
So just wanted to get some of your general experience with flat leaf springs for the front of a rig.

Aside from hitting the bumpstops under compression, what is your :twocents: on the design and ride quality of flat springs? (we don't need to cover the advantages of lift here, just ride/design theory)

In other words, why did the chevys fords and toyotas all come stock with flat springs?  What was the theory behind that one?

 :dunno:
1975 FJ-55 Landcruiser: pretty much stock with 31 x9.50x15 TSL's
1992 Extended Cab Pickup: 22r, weber carb, 51" RUF, F-150 rears, Aussie Front, Welded Rear, etc.

Like 79coyotefrg said  in a round "a" bout way. They are better on road. Ride better lots of time too. Same concept as flat lower links.
