Well here is my truck im 14 years old got it about a month ago from my uncle he got it for free from some people so i  figured if I get a truck now then I will have a good truck by the time I can start driving. My plans one day are to have a 33's with chevy 63's, winch bumper, flatbed, and some other stuff. It wont be a full on rock crawler but i will still be able to go wheeling with it. I'm going to be starting the flated here real soon I have a project that i have to do for school and so I thought it would be a perfect time to start build the flatbed. Right now me and my Dad are working on tuning it up and trying to get it smogged and then start body work. It is pretty rough and going to need a lot of body work but at least it runs and drives. Here it is.......

how much lift are you looking for??  63's are not the only option.

why a flat bed??  is the bed on the 84 rotted out ??

Im thinking maybe a 4in lift or around there and the reason i want a flatbed is because the bed is rotted out and i kinda like flatbeds better than normal beds

for 4 inches the 63's would require blocks.    go with some 2wd F150 springs. they will give you a very soft riding 4 inches of lift.   thats what I run in the rear.

it will be coming off soon. yesterday i took the running boards off looks alot better with out them

86bobbedtoy

on the smashed door, it will be easier and cheaper to replace it.
craigslist is prime for parts

man I wonder what my rig would look like if I had started building toyotas when I was 14

Toy-Cra-Ze

yeah thats my plan is to just replace that whole door. probably would look pretty good if you started when u were 14 but your kinda limited to money when your 14 cause you dont have a full time job so only the summer time you can really make money

Toy-Cra-Ze

Heres a pic of it without the running boards looks 10 times better

looks like a nice project. ive never seen a truck with running boards, only 4runners. i say go with all-pros flatbed, its pretty sick lookin.

Looks like a good start, keep on it and it'll be a lot of fun. What are you going to run for front springs? Look into RUF swap since you're doing 63s out back; they move the axle forward a bit and give some lift... there's a ton of info for this; and it's cheap and easy. Just like me.

My 84 and the flatbed that came with it and I like my Chevy springs but need bumpstops soon. I have plans drawn up for under-bed storage and lowering it a few inches. The previous owner thought he could weld and "welded" the bed right to the frame... without plating or bracing.  :slap:

Presonally I'd say ditch that sorry front bumper next, if you need a front turn signal I have a few lying around.

A good start overall, welcome to the wheeling disease.
