Possible New Engine Question
« on: Feb 06, 2011, 04:48:18 PM »
Ive been having some trouble with my engine lately and we've considered getting a new engine put in. I know almost nothing about engines. Right now Ive got a V6 in my 4Runner its a stock engine. I have 33x10.50's and a 3 inch lift on my truck. Would I benefit from getting a 4 cylinder engine or possibly a diesel engine or just stick with a new V6? Can a diesel even fit in an 88 or 89 4runner? Im looking to save gas so thats why Im asking and I didnt know what would be best for me. Any help would be great. Thanks

the 1KZ Toyota turbo diesel would be perfect but they are hard to find.  you'd have to import one from Australia or Europe.

if you dont know much about motors and that kind of stuff then swapping in another motor is going to be a pain youll have to buy a swap harness(if you can find one ) if not your gonna have to make one then you have your motor mounts that will need to be changes and an adapter bellhousing to put your tranny behind the new motor may be too much work depending on who and what you kno what motor was in your runner?
