Hello from Las Vegas
« on: Feb 06, 2011, 10:49:19 AM »
 :driving:

A friendly hello from Las Vegas!

Long time floating around, just acquired my 4Runner so let the fun begin.

My new to me 4Runner (purchased in Nov)

1993 4Runner V6 SR5 120k / Auto / All options, with exception to roof rack.
Burgundy metallic (don't remember the real paint name)

Completely stock, from ORIGINAL CA OWNER!
All original Toyota dealer service records up to date as of time of purchase,
including brand new engine @ 96k (head gasket campaign), still warranted!

Flawless looking in and out.

Paid 4k with all the records, books, original sales invoice and window sticker. original keys and original floor mats etc.

Looks like it rolled out the showroom.
Underside looks like new, even has the original stickers on parts of the under side, even on the rear drive shaft!

Made some changes for mileage improvements, reliablity etc.

Now prepping for major trail, D.D. usage.

Obviously I am lucky to get such a great truck and in astonishing condition.

Truck already has complete new engine and cooling system.

Mods done so far

1.Villager Efan swap , DCC controller (dual speed)
2.Idler fan bracket elimination with short drive belts
3.Manual hub installation (nice 1.5 -1.8mpg gain!)
4.High flow Magniflow converter and cat back exhaust and new O2 sensor (replaced original)
5.K&N Filter drop in
6.E3 plugs and new wires, cap.
7.New starter (old one had the click of death despite contact replacements)
8.all new vacuum lines
9.New custom made rear progressive coils with additional load cap
10. New 31" BFG A/T K.O's - replaced old dry rotted BFG Trail editions
11. Installed failsafe thermostat
12. Complete trans flush x 2 in 500miles. (firm believer in if you don't know, then get it done)

The beginning steps are just to get some addition power back out of the 3vze, and get more reliability and better gas mileage.

This has been my primary vehicle and I drive it about 500-600 miles a week in CITY traffic
Right now the tuck is posting 15.7 -15.9 MPG, since I started logging it.
Was sitting approx 13.2 originally and was so sluggish getting up and going.

The exhaust / filter really helped in the breathing and was the biggest gain of improvement
The fan and add hubs were the second best, and very noticeable.

I plan on doing a run to CA and will log my mileage for h.w. soon.

Pics are coming, as soon as I break the 11post limitation.

Thanks for the complements!

I have to say that finding the 4runner was pure luck.

I had almost given up on finding a good 2nd gen in "respectable" condition here in LV.

Most 4runners around here are trashed beyond beilef and have tons of miles.

I found this runner off craigslist and it honestly did not a very good description and pretty
poor camera phone pictures.

The only description was something like " 93 4Runner, you won't find another this nice in Vegas, $4300obo"

At first I almost passed on it due to the price, but figured hey.. if I am willing to go look at the other
piles of junk for less why not just find out some info on it.

When I called the owner, he told me that he did not understand why no one was calling, he
had it up for about 2 weeks and i was the ONLY ONE to call.

He just moved from socal and just needed to downsize to a good D.D. econobox.

I told him that it was likely the price as most people don't have 4k cash to spend.

Anyways, long story short.. after a very brief phone chat, I met him and purchased it on the spot!

It may have been a tad high, but for the condition and all history, papers and with a toyota warranty on the motor
it was more than worth it in my book. :king:
