2wd rears in front
« on: Jan 12, 2005, 10:25:53 PM »
I've seen it mentioned that if you put 2wd rears in front they'll give you about 2" lift, but I never heard about the spring rate.  What is the difference in ride and actual usability?  Do they have a similar spring rate, softer or harder?  I have a low mile set off an 87 2wd I've been parting out and they look to be in excellent shape, so they would do the trick for now.  I don't wanna move my mounts so newer toy springs or longer springs are out of the question, but if I do a sas on my 86 then I plan on doing waggys or something like that.  Lemme know if you have any info on this,    Nate

From my experience they are the same spring rate and have the same ride.  They just have a little bit of arch added to compensate for the fact that 2x's are spring under.  Once you go sas Id highly suggest you use them in the front.  They will be awesome springs with just a little bit of work.
Full hydro, 186:1 with an auto and 44's what could go wrong??

I heard they move the axle farther forward.  Even farther then the 4x4 rears.  Is this true?

Cool, I think this will actually kill two birds with one stone.  I wanna mild lift for the fourby and a mild drop for the 2wd.  Thanks WT,    Nate
