In need of a L52 tranny for my 83

My tranny went out yesterday an i need to find another one like ASAP since i need my truck for work an im located in sacramento.so if you have one please let me know thanks

thanks man but he said he only has a G series one an not to sure the difference between the L an the G series.

g is like 6 inches longer, I have a couple in fresno that I'm unsure of the condition, Free....... I know one was stuck in gear, and has a bad bearing, but it had a messed up shifter also, both missing top plates. free if you come get them

well if it's 6inches longer i dont really have any tools need to modify mounts to make it fit... but which g series ones are they exactly

well found one out of a 1980 truck but only a 4 speed but says it's a side shift????? what the heck is the diference if anyone knows

thats an l42 series gearing is diff i have that one in my 81 dont care for it find yourself l52 they are more popular and better in long run but if it was me and u want beefy trans go to car-parts.com and find a r151 out of a 22ret

dang thats sucks cuz the guy only wants 50 bucks for it an he's local an just looked at that site an they have one i need for like 500 bucks so guess i have to choose what one to spend on ha an thanks man for that site

the g sereis is longer and you would need the d shafts to match, for it to work, i have those also, let me know

the L43 is the first 4wd tranny toyota had.  its the exact same bolt patterns as the later Lseries 5 speeds but they are much lighter and have a 3.64 1st gear where as the 5 speeds have a 3.93 1st gear.

you WILL NEED the L43 shifter because the L52 has a different shifter

i would snag the L43 and run it till you can find a L52 in good shape or have Marlin rebuild your L52 into a L52HD

ya i thought about that especailly since the guy wants it for so cheap.... but wish i could have marlin do that but i def couldn't afford that right now

the money you save using the l43 could go to the L52HD

I have a L52HD  and LOVE it.  I tow regularly and it has never let me down.

well i found a l52 with the tcase but the guy wants 350 for both an to me that sounds a lil steep

edit altho it does come with another top shift case, for duals

grab it, but before you hand over the cash make sure the input shaft doesnt wiggle around if it does dont pay more that $250 for the pair

if it wiggles a LOT  pass  but it could be a core for a L52HD build.

well how much did it cost you to get it done
mine was a special deal but the average Joe like yourself i think its around $900

I like the l43 it's old but still shifts good 50$ is good , a little  rtv and your good to go
