So, I went ahead and picked this Taco up off CL.
Body and frame are junk, drivetrain is good.
Seller told me the motor has less than 5k on it .
I bought the truck w/o looking at it first, had it dropped off by a tow company.
I figured out quickly that the engine is a Chinese crate motor , oh well, it fired right up and sounds good.
It has the automatic A340F tranny which I will replace with a W56 and dual cases.
It has the same American mags on it that I have on my first gen, w/BFG All-Terrains 33's in real good shape.

Fed-Ex guy just dropped this off. Picked it up off CL. New, never ran. I have a single t-case w/4.70 bolted to an L43 in my '80 that I can bolt up to this hopefully. I found a  :turtle:built W56A for $800. w/approx 9k miles on it. Guy says it is "broken in and running beautifully". I am thinking about jumping on that. No bell housing though. And I don't think I can use the one thats bolted to the auto tranny in the Taco :dunno:W59 bellhousing??? I appreciate any advice on this.

Heres some more pics......I am really enthusiastic about this project

A few things I have planned:

1. acquire W59 bellhousing and attach to  :turtle:built W56 and duals
2. new clutch and flywheel....22lb?....35LB?
3. replace stock exhaust manifold.....LC header?.....later model mini?
4. electric fans

I have some conversion motor mounts on the way. Curious how they will work..
I am going to start in on the wiring today and see what I can get done.

Anyway, here is a shot of the interior before tearing into it. Dash was kind of beat up from wreck but everything was OK.
And with dash tore apart......
