:headscratch: I think it might be the resistor  and not the switch  from what I have learned in the past few days if it only blows on HIGH then its the resistor

if its a 2nd gen or 1st gen runner its up on the pass side by the heater blower motor held in by 1 or 2 phillips head screws to the floor board. You will feel a wire running off the blower motor to it. It's a lil 1x2"(about) box thing and will screw out and you will deff notice it.

Had similar problem on a 79; took the heater/vent controls apart. Ended up being stuck; also the center blend door wasn't moving. It has something to do with how Toyota designed the vents; to me it looked like "vent" didn't pull air from the heater core the way you'd think it would. Been a while, can't remember too much. Maybe it'll get someone else thinking the right way?

Huh? any mods or ideas would be cool my fan is strong heater core doesent leak defrost is ok but the heat sucks and so do the vents lol.  Any way every thing is in the truck, I checked it out today , I even un did my hoses to the heater core put compressed air through there
No luck , I'm thinkin heat was not a big deal in japan or heat wasn't an option yet!

I might grab a 2gen heater core and see if it's bigger?

It had something to do with the vent/heat door, the L-shaped one. If it was closed, it would use in-cab (cold) air... if opened it'd use heater core (HOT) air. Or the other way around; I'd have to find some pics to show what I mean. I had the entire dash out and apart so I played around with it plenty; just gotta remember what's what. I can see it in my mind, but that doesn't do you much good.

There may be too much of a difference between the 1 and 2 gen cores; cab designs were changed so it may not fit.

On my 88, my cable going to control valve on firewall works. The other one that goes down to another door won't open all the way. In other words, it won't go the way it should when I have lever over to hot. It's robbing me of heat. Any suggestions?

I have a 85 that blows luke warm air after the trucks fully warm.
The fan only works on the 2 high speeds so I'll look for the resistor.
The valve under the hood was stuck so I removed it and put in a hose coupling, so it should be hot all the time but still luke warm air.
I'll try flushing the heater core, how do you guys suggest doing that?
I'll be following this thread.
Thanks'
