4cyl housing, v6 gears
« on: Jan 06, 2005, 06:30:03 PM »
the setup im going to be running is a v6 5.29's with a 4cyl spool in a 4cyl housing. i got the setup kit that will allow this but it makes the pinion bearing smaller. this going to be a problem u think? daily driven

the v-6 gears do not fit in the 4cyl housing unless you know the correct combo of pinion bearings.
i am not sure what you have to mix and match.
there have been a couple of threads on it on th PBB.
gearman at river city diffs knows what is needed.
its easier to get 4cyl gears in a v-6 housing (just needs a ring gear spacer)

if it is a true v-6 gear set it will be a pain.
but most v-6 gear sets are really just 4cyl gears with a ring gear spacer.

The guy that he bought the gears from said 4 cyl. gears are thinner and the bearing is wider.  He also said 6 cyl. gears are thicker but the bearing is narrower, so either one works.  The guy said with the setup kit he has it'll all work fine.
in the projects nooga, anything goes
