Steering shaft question.

Is there any issues with the steering shaft bolting up when the IFS box is pushed way forward when a x-over steering conversion is done?  I am just trying to plan out things for my 1983 Truck and can't seem to find the answer on some of the write ups that I have found on this conversion.

I had to extend the shaft when i did mine but i moved the box as far forword as it can go

Is there a trick to extending it or does it just telescope out?  Any hidden stops or pins that need to be removed?

Look about 1" from the top portion of the female (larger od) piece of tube there should be a couple of plastic dots on the flat sides of the tube.  You can try and drill them and force the inner out of that.  I tryed that but it didnt ever work very well so now I just pull the shaft assembly out and take the u-joint setup off the shaft and using a small piece of steel round stock (3/8" ish) I put the whole setup in a vise and drive the inner out of the larger tube.  Then you just cut the plastic off and your set.
