Downside of wheel spacers??????

was wondering about negative effects of wheel spacers , like bearings ,wheel falling off , that kind of stuff.

I've never had any issues with mine, but I check the torque at every oil change and after every trail ride.

The only problem i have had is my rear bearings turned crappy and i had to replace them.  But they were probly the original and needed to be replaced anyways.  But i check mine often also.

what size spacers , do u guys have?

I've got 1.5" spacers on the front, but I run a wider IFS rear end so no spacers in the back.

With some wheel spacers you must use a thin wall socket or the socket will bind in the spacer & give you a false torque reading. I have seen a wheel come off due to this.

This is funny this topic was brought up again. I just re-checked the torque on my spacers today ~ still right where I left them, mines not a dd but I still check them routinely. Oh, I run Marlins 1 inchers ~ in front to clear the calipers and in rear to match the front width

I run Marlin Crawler 1 1/2 inch wheel spacers front and rear.  I use a deep socket that is thin enough to fit in the spacer at achool.  But when i check them at home i just use a star wrench because i don't have a torque wrench here.

There is more leverage on the wheel bearings, spindle, king/knuckle bearings, differential, etc. But this leverage also helps with articulation as increased wheel travel at the benifit of a decrease in suspension travel.

But I've not seen anyone wasting bearings/parts due to spacers, but then again I've never seen anyone running 3" spacers !!

I've got 1.5" all around. I Like 'em

You could just run some 2" offset rims and have the same effect also....

thank you all for the feedback    , gonna wait 'till i put the news springs in and see how it feel.
'81 Toy, right now 3inch lift (re-arched springs  ) but soon to install Marlin frt and rear springs , total lift 5inch.
