85 4runner "polished turd" build by DFWFO
« on: Nov 02, 2010, 08:02:26 PM »
Its been a dd for the past 3 years and she been ridden hard and hung up wet. Never built anything like this so there's going to be alot head scratching going on. Bought my first yota for $800 of craigslist, it had been rolled but it ran.
Just painted it tan a few months ago and thought it was real original..........damnit, oh well. Been trying to rebuild it bumper to bumper. Its a dirty mutt of about 12 diff yotas but almost everything works. Not bad for an 85 with 190k. Have had years now, Im extremely addicted now.

Been working on a alt throttle: decided to make a motocross grip shifter, and that inturned inspired a throttle on shifter setup. The cable is 5in short( didnt like 2nd gear at all) but i will have to post pics on it, its bitching

Mostly stock:
3in body, was on it when i bought it
4in procomp rear springs
3in procomp??? front
5.5in front shackle
taco rear ubolt flip
open front and rear w/ stock gears and 33's
13" 5150's on front with 13" hoops

Waiting in the mail:
transfer adapter (i have the other trans)
high steer
rear sloped hangers
rear shackle mounts
front ublot flip
and shes getting the tint done right now

waiting for funds:
crossmember for trans
extended front drive shaft

The plans:
ruf
56" rear
aussie lockers front and rear
36"..??
store bought armor, no upper exo, just interior full cage

the past few years, notice the custom roof delete kit??

Waiting on parts and will report all progress
All Im lacking is a flux capacitor and the ability to hit 88.

I like how you did this - nice work!  I've always wanted to build a stock looking sub in this area.  My current runner has all stock interior.  Once it gets too damaged, I plan to do something very similar to what you did.  I had a separate sub box in my last runner, so I tried to keep the storage compartment...here are a couple shots of what it looked like
