coolent temp reading incorrect
« on: Oct 08, 2010, 10:48:16 PM »
so ill start out by saying i have a 82 toyota i rebuilt the motor with a engnbldr kit put a 93 intake on and used a sds efi kit put the temp sensor where the oem was in the front of the intake. the problem im having is the sensor is only registering 158 on both the gauge and the programmer.

i first thought the truck was running cold from the tstat staying open so i replaced it with a toyota one after that did not work i pulled it out and boiled it till it opened which was were it was suppose to. so i got my thermo gun out and the block is at 190 the tstat housing is the same and using a thermometer in the coolent in the radiator the temp is 190 any thoughts would be appreciated. oh and the sensor for the computer was replaced and no change also if i let the truck sit running for about ten minutes it registers 194 till i start driving then it goes back to reading only 158
