WTB cheap project Toyota in Redding, Ca area
« on: Oct 01, 2010, 10:10:13 PM »
Just what the title says.  1979 or newer, unless it's an fj!  2 or 4 wheel drive doesn't matter, but if 2 I'd like it to be either a long bed or an extra cab.  If 4wd I'd like either a short bed or an extra cab.  Not looking for junk but can't afford something too nice.  Let me know what you have, how much you want, what's wrong, and post pics.  And remember:  it must be legitimately cheap  ;)

Thanks man, but it's too far for me to go and isn't close to a good deal.  Now if he wants to part with the 67-72 chevy/gmc behind it  :eyebrow:

Waiting to hear back on a rolled 85 extra cab and an 87 4runner local  :crossed:

I need to sell my 79 4x4 pretty soon. It's a dd right now. I drive it over 200 miles combined each week. Aussie lockers front and rear. 4.56 gears. 83 front end with fj40 brakes, 92 rear axle, bunch of mods, some even done right. I'm going to ask $1500 for it, because I'm not going to smog it. I want to sell it to someone who knows Toyota's and well drive it. Things that are wrong. Needs some body rust repair and a paint job. Engine was rebuilt and runs good but the water jacket has a small crack in the block. I have a complete 1988 22re engine ( status unknown) I never pulled it apart. And a bunch of parts including wiring harness that should get you close if you decided to go 22re. I could get some new pic's if you like.

Long or short bed?  My budget is well below that, but you never know what it may be by the time you decide to sell.  Go ahead and post some pics

A few more details. I'm located At the very west end of highway 299. So if your taking a run to the coast you can take a look at it. It has a L52 5 speed right now. 1983 power steering. 3 core radiator from a 90's yota. 83 or 84 22r block with 1980 20r head. Weber carburetor, 90's  bench seat, that's pretty worn out. I wanted to install better seats.  This is the most rusted side, top over the door needs repair.  I'll find some more pic's.

A few other pictures in the computer. I installed a new 4.56 ring and pinion with the locker up front. I also installed a Toyota solid collar. The rear 3rd has a Toyota 4.56, form a 92 extra cab auto truck. I installed a aussie and mc solid collar in that 3rd. The front window has a new Toyota gasket and I treated the metal with por15 before installing it. Sunday I'll take some pictures of the engine, frame and inside the cab.

If it were smogged I'd be very tempted, but I can't go through the hassle with a weber again  :shudder:

Yeah the smog check is a real hassle.   :tantrum: If that was done, I could sell it for a lot more also. Other options would be to part it out, but that would be sad.  :rivers: Or sell it in Oregon, where they don't have to smog older rigs. It's only 80 miles north from here.

My 80 is registered at my parent's house so I don't have to smog it.  Poorly tuned 32/36 weber, non smog header, 2 vacuum lines, and no other smog parts.
