Tethering cell / smart phones for online gaming use. Any one a techy here ?

Ok here is my dilima I am trying to tether my AnDroid phone from my computer to my xbox so I can xbox live with and have broadband . I also did this on two different laptops and could not get it to connect . On my windows XP when I try to change port to the setting it is telling me that another port is it use of already and can't be change ? I'm confused here cause on the windows 7 verison it works fine but still can't connect to xbox live either. If any one reads the info and watch the video . Can any one help or shoot me some suggestions . Thanks a bunch guys .
