I had 4.88's, 37's with the 3.4 manual and it was just right for driving everyday. Any lower and you'll be turning some high RPM's on the freeway

Ya.  I have a 01 wrangler with 37's and 4.10's gears(with 3 speed auto) and it turns 2,500 RPM's going 65MPH.   All my buddy's that have Toyota's say I should go 5.29's, but they all have 4cyl's.

I've got a 97 runner with a 2.7, and I'm on 37's with 5.38 gears, my speedo is only 2 mph off and it cruise's on the freeway very nice. So I think 5.29's would be good, specially if it's just a toy, might as well go as low as you can.

3000 rpm cruising is fine for Toyotas.  The sweet spot for a 3.4 is 2750rpm imo.  I say 5.29s

I run 4.88s they are perfect. Speedo is dead on. Has plenty on power, and cruises nice on the freeway.

Well, 4.10 and 28" tires is about stock for a 4cyl. Go to 37" and 5.29 will bring you back to about stock. Im almost 100% that the 6cyl motors with 28" have a 3.73 gear. So to bring that back to stock you should go with 4.88 and 37's. Save the 5.29 for 40"s.

37mtr with 4.88's on a 3.4 puts me @2200rpm going 70 so i would say  4.88's is the right choice

just to clear this up, 5.29's are actually weaker.
