i have a question i have a chance to buy a almost new smitty tube winch bumper for 150 the problem is its for 84-89 toyota pickups and i have an 83 long bed is it possible to make this bumper fit by fabricating some new mounts and would it be very difficult? any advice would be greatly appreciated  :help:

for not much more u could proboly have a custom bumper built for your rig

As I recall, the frames are slightly different width from 1st to 2nd gen trucks, but I don't know about bumper mounting.  You'll have to take some measurements and see how far off it is to determine how much some custome brackets might cost you.  A custom bumper may be more cost effective in the long run...

It should use 4 mounts to mount it on.  2 to the front crossmember and 2 to the body mount.  The 2 on the body mounts are the ones that are different i think.  All you need to do is cut those off and then weld them back on were you need them.  Maybe 20 minutes at the most of work to do.  I love my smittybuilt.  I cut the bottom tubes off right after the turn signal for better ground clearance.  The don't dent very easily at all (trust me, i know).  We just welded a friends smittybuilt directly to his crossmember, but i wouldn't recemend (sp?) that if you want to take it off later.
