Project: I need a new hobby
« on: Aug 06, 2010, 03:40:17 AM »
Well its been a few years but I'm finally back in a toyota.....well 2 now...

Long story short heres what Ive been up to these last few years. (as far as 4x4's go)

Built a tracker...and how it sweetly ended

Bought my 3rd sami to replace it

Well the samurai did awesome considering all it went through but then buying it made me realize why I didn't like driving them daily on highways and winter etc etc

Well my Dad decided to do some work trade behind my back to get this 88 EFI ext cab yota since he had a thought the samurai wasn't gonna be around to much longer ( he was right and wrong)

And well just 2 days ago I bought another running toyota, 85 reg cab for.....drumroll........$150

So now its the great debate.

Option 1: Sell the samurai and build a toyota
Option 2: Swap all the drivetrain motor, trans, tcase, axle's into the samurai from the 85
Option 3: Take the solid front and do a SAS on the 88 and make it a nice looking driving and wheel the piss out of the samurai as is.

All tough choices. But keep in mind I make $7.25 an hour and im lucky if i get 60 hours in evey 2 weeks, so with that being said this could be a slow and painful build until I get another job.

Btw is FFC still roaming the site? haha

Yea 2nd time ive got a running 85 for $150 or less haha and glad to hear she tied the knot. Well came to a conclusion, selling the sami, building the 85, cheaper, more power, more options, and great wheel base and parts are plentiful and use the 88 for a DD found a box in WI from a 2wd early 80's for a good price and fairly clean, just gonna need to find tail lights for it. Gonna be hard to make the transition back to toyota but im sure it wont take too long :P
