I agree with you there, I have an old lockrite in the front of my 85 and its been through a lot of abuse. I'm going to buy an Aussie for the weak 7.5'' and see what happens. I've never had a locker in an IFS housing before, should be interesting!

This will be the first ever locked up IFS front end I've ever ran... I've only broke 7, or 8... or 9... well maybe 10 open fronts... LMFAO

Well this time I grenaded the inner spiders, broke the center pin in half and chipped the pinion gear beyond the point of feeling comfortable to reuse this differential... dammit!!! Found one on craigslist for $65, hopefully its a 4.10!!!!

Full day of work, 3 hour trip, front axle torn down and Aussie is installed. Be swapping axles out after work and back into 4wd mode.

I'm going to crawl around with it today and test it out... I'm seriously tired of pulling these damn IFS front diffs... I also whipped up some free temp mudflaps before I get a ticket or throw a rock at somebodies windshield.

somebody i used to know would always snap the passenger side output shaft thingy (the part you can remove from the diff which the CV connects to ) 

What he ended up doing was pulling the flange from the diff he bought and welding the piss out of it at the factory flange/shaft weld.... hasnt broken it since.

Well thats good to know.... If thats the case I will take one of my many spares and work some TIG magic on it

My bullet proof idler arm setup has been holding up great but it wears the bushings out quickly due to the extreme leverage on the bottom while suspension cycles and steering angles fight each other... So I just had a great idea  I am going to redesign it and hopefully solve my steering wandering. Should be able to do this in an evening no problem with little-to-no cost  should have built it this way in the first place. I will also be redoing the pitman arm and putting them back to stock length in order to gain my steering responsiveness.

Aussie kicks ass!!! Definitely can feel the difference in the steering, I have to redo the idler arm and pitman arm then move my steering box to go back to stock length arms. But over all this little thing flat out climbs like a mountain goat!

Well I found the next weak link just as Nation stated before, sheared the passengers side stub shaft right at the flange last night! Looks like I will be bustin out the TIG and beefing one up!!! I'll post pics up later, I also popped another cam follower in the audi for the HPFP so I'm tearing into that tonight, pull the turbo and manifold off to weld that new tial wastegate on there so once I get my rear timing cover and cam back from canada with the roller follower upgrade it'll be ready for some higher boost. Wont have to pull the cam follower out everyother oil change either, piss poor design for sure!

Well yet again, blew up ANOTHER front IFS ring and pinion. Im done with IFS. So if anyone in Eastern WA area has a front 84-85 straight axle they are looking to part with let me know... Tired of wasting my money on these damn things and can't even run over a 33-34'' tire... I do get a lead foot in this truck but you kind of have to in this terrian with IFS and 2'' lift with all stock gearing... Especially with how dry its been lately! Onto the 4runner for now, have to pull a bunch of my parts off of my buddies toy after running the WE Rock competition in Goldendale earlier this month...
