front axel spool and 4wd hubs

I was wondering if i put a spool in the front axel of my truck, would it interfear with daily driving even whent the hubs are unlocked?

i don't suppose IFS changes that response?

if the hubs are unlocked then the gears are not turning.   so it will not effect the dd.
