I have a 92 that I have swapped a 3.4 into. For the ease of making it smog compliant through the Ca. state BAR I ended up keeping the auto that was in it because the slave on the manual R150 that was in it would interfere with the slave and therefore I would have no clutch. Keeping the stock downpipe and CAT (required to pass the BAR) and the slave will not work together.
I am trying to figure out a way to make it 5speed again without altering it too much to where a smog tech down the road would fail me.
My latest thought is to swap a Tacoma 5speed into it, buy an adapter plate from Marlin and stick my dual cases into it and be done. However, I dont know if this is possible as far as spline counts, lengths, etc. would be concerned.
Another thought that I thought that I saw on another thread(cant find it now), was to simply change the bellhousing to a newer (96-99) Tacoma 5speed and keep my 92 5speed. I would assume that I would need to change the clutch components to a Tacoma style
I dont mind the other part of the conversion back to manual as far as changing the ECM and a rewire. Its just the physical components that I am clueless about.
Anyone know if any of these ideas are feasible??
thanks in advance for any thoughts or help
