Going to be picking some 30 spline longs soon along with dropping in a locker/spool and 5.29s.

However, what else do you guys usually buy when buying and installing new axles shafts? I got a rebuild kit for the diff but what about the knuckles?

Interesting enough though, the axle only has 26,000 miles but has been sitting for the past 26 years basically. Would it need a rebuilt because its been sitting so long or just new HD inner and outter marlin seals will be ok? Or say hell with it and re use the old ones.

Thanks for the quick response.

Should I pick up some new bearings too?

I'd order wheel bearings just so the parts store would have them just in case, but yours may be fine.  You might buy Long's hub gear too, he won't warranty a stripped spline if it was cause of a stock hub gear.

You say you got "a rebuild kit for the diff". What do you mean by that? Usually you need an install kit when you regear a diff. Are you planning on working on the diff yourself? You may want to leave it to a professional because setting up the gears in a diff requires specialized knowledge and tools.

Dr Phat

Yes! I will be picking up the hubs so I get the lifetime warranty as well.

Sorry, I ment install kit for the diff not rebuild along with a solid spacer.

And yes I have an amazing hook up that knows how to set up gears amazingly well.
