"A CNN reporter, while interviewing a Marine Sniper asked.  What do you feel when you shoot a terrorist"?
The Marine shrugged and replied, "Recoil."

Shot one is the best composed, but her expression is one of being "stoned". It lacks life. Her head should not have been tilted toward the camera.

Shot two looks like it was shot for the yearbook. Again, not much life in her eyes, the white areas of the photo are blown out (slight red tint gives it away). Maybe having some space to the left of her and give her a red bull.

Shot 3 girl on the left looks stoned, girl on right giving the "myspace face" hate that. Comp is ok, blow out on left girls forehead. Left girl may be OOF.

Anything else?

Was I supposed to critique the photo or the subject? :gap:

hahaha, that works buddy. I just wanted to point a few things out to her, she seems to think that she is the best cause of  her 1k camera. She likes to let everyone know that her camera is better then everyones. She does that some good pictures, she just over does the "ok everyone look at my camara cause it takes better pictures an Im in charge of pictures" thing when other wanna take pictures for themselfs. She likes to do the " oh I can take them with mine an send them to you " thing.

Awesome.
Good luck then!

I always find that it's better to think that you suck, and be happy when somebody says you're good. :gap:

I think Kyle and I discussed this before, just because you can buy a $1000+ camera doesn't make you a professional photographer.  I have over $2000 in camera equipment, does that make me a professional?  No.  I'm not.  I see people in the windows where I work at, taking pictures with very high end DSLR's, and it's obvious that they don't know what they are doing, cause #1 dead giveaway is, they are using the cameras flash against glass.  When they need an hot shoe mount flash with a tilt head.
Another thing I've discussed with Kyle too, and many other photographers, is the fact that the DSLR has ruined the photography industry.  Now, instead of a dozen excellent professional photographers, you know have over 1000 crappy photographers that think they are the best.  I'm old school in my pictures, I don't like to edit them in the computer.  I know that I can make alot of my pictures really become incredible, but I don't like that.  The true trick is if you can take really good pics, without editing them, then you have truly mastered the camera and your craft.  Just like the old 35mm days.

Not everybody has the talent to capture portrait photography.  I've known Dwain my whole life, and he will admit, that he really sucks at portraits.  But he can take nature shots.  But it has taken him over 30 years to get to where he's at now.   http://dwainspicks.imagekind.com/store/gallerylist.aspx

To me, I don't like portraits that the subject is looking at the camera.  Those pics above, she just has this pained, inconvenienced look about her.  It's that smug look.  She is forcing her smile.  The subject has to be comfortable with the photographer, and vice versa.  If not, then the pictures will show the truth about it.  I love portraits of people that are doing something, or looking off in deep thought somewhere.  And lighting, lighting, and lighting.  Especially, with B&W.

SOOC is the real challenge! I'm getting better, but have a long way to go. I love surreal colors so I'm stuck with editing, but am trying to get my SOOC shots as good as possible so that I spend less time in front of the computer. Maybe one day I'll be able to go only SOOC, but that is far off. :gap:

Your way ahead of me Kyle!!
