what size wheel spacers?
« on: May 10, 2010, 06:31:20 PM »
I'm lookin to buy some wheel spacers for my 80 pickup. I'm runnin stock susp with a 3 inch body lift and 33s. Any suggestions as to what size wheel spacers i should buy? I want to have a noticeably wider stance for the look and extra stability.

i would not go past 1.5". it is very hard on your steering any bigger than that. or you could always get some bigger axles for a little xtra $$$$

The wheels i have right now are very offset. With stock steering, would i be ok to go with 1.5 in spacers?

offset wheels are pretty much the same thing just a little better since your only using one set of lug nuts. you don't want to get to far out with spacers and wheels because it is hard on your front end. your changing the pivot point of your tires.

Check the 4-sale section here, on Pirate, or craigslist.com for your area, for some 15x10's w/a 2" BS.  It should be cheaper to get a set of used rims than 4 wheel spacers, unless you only need 2 because you have already swapped an '86+ rear axle.

Sorry for thread jackin birfection but Im wondering how much spacing was to much? Ive got an 85runner with taco rear, 60in instead of the stock 55in. I was looking for 2in spacers for the front, but is that too much?

I have stock push-pull, but will be changing that within time.

I didnt want to clutter the threads with noob questions
All Im lacking is a flux capacitor and the ability to hit 88.

I run 2'' on the fron of my '82. No problems. Make sure you use RED locktite when installing the spacers to your axle. You dont want them coming off when you are driving 70mph down the road.

Are 2 inch spacers too much if i am running stock 80 axles and stock push-pull steering?  (33 inch tires too)

i debated the wheel spacer thing for a long time.  i decided on 15x8 2"bs wheels through summit instead of wheel spacers.  spacers make me a little nervous as i had a wheel come off a turbo regal i had back in the day.  on my 81 the wheels brought me out enough all the way around to not rub the frame in the back or the springs in the front.

now on my 4runner with the wider rear axle i am just using off the shelf steelies and the front range brake kit.  matches the width, bigger brakes, wheels can be beadlocked.  and i can use my old stuff for rear discs.
Im like Hugh Hefner minus everything good about his life.
