With 33's, 4.88's and in 5th gear at 70mph with a brand new flywheel and clutch assembly, my engine spins at 3000 rpm's.

I based mine off my GPS. my speedo said 65mph at (tach) 3000 rpms. My GPS said 67mph.
36" hummer tires 5.29 gears, W56 tranny, Marlin 1200HD clutch and flywheel.

cool you went with the 1200HD you will not regret it.

Didnt think about using GPS, good idea. Thats reasonable rpm's for 70mph. think Im doing approx. 3400rpm w/ 4.56 and 31's. But Im not sure what 70mph is without GPS. Will try it
Anybody know about mpg running propane on the street?
Got a propane kit for when Iran gets bombed(anyday now)
and was wondering about what to expect. Kit is from Got Propane
w/aluminum tanks 2/7gal. Dont know if you remember the gas shortage of the 70's.
Not any fun and would love to just drive by the gas station and laugh at all the mercedes waiting in line!
I can get propane at U haul or even Do It center.

Yea thanks dude I like it a lot. How many mpgs are you doing on the freeway? I need to get on buying 4.88s because my truck struggles to pick up speed.

I'll see what numbers I pull this weekend. My manuel choke bracket broke my last time out on a trip and I got 13.5 MPG.
I'm guessing it being closed (maybe partial) for about 90 miles or so killed it. I didn't really notice it until we stopped to get extra gas. I came to a stop and she didn't want to stay on.
With 4.37 and 33" tires I averaged around 16MPG (un-corrected).
I'm hoping I get better then 13.5 ....If not well, I guess I have to look at my carb again.
Re-gearing makes a difference. Before 5th gear was useless. Using 4L was the normal gear to select for trail riding.
double L was for what I felt was harder obstacles.
with 5.29 I was able to use 5th gear again (highway). 4H actually works great for the beach, 4L is better and double L gives you a lot more time to negotiate obstacles while creeping along. of course I have dual stock cases and 36" tires.
I know your application differs then mine. I was just amazed the difference it makes.

16.5 MPG is what I got. Which seems normal for the 6-7 years I've had my truck.

Thats pretty decent. I think that im getting around 13.5 right now with my current setup but my carb is old and im sure it needs to be replaced. Do you have any suggestions for where I should start? It hasnt been replaced in a few years and I know that it is off because when i opened up to see my air filter the other day it smelled of gas and there was some gas on the top part of the carb. Im pretty sure that means its being inefficient.

With my new motor and 1000 miles on it, so far my gas tanks showed 21mph, 25mph and 23 mpg. That's again with 22RE, 4.88's, and 33's.
