banjo bolts for brakes
« on: Apr 03, 2010, 03:40:43 PM »
I want to replace my hard front brake lines with banjo bolts so my braided lines go directly into the calipers. I have seen this done on buggies but has anyone tried this on a DD? They are included in Rear Disk Kits and I have seen those on the street. I really think this would be a great mod if I can get it to not leak. No hard lines so no backing plate. When I change Birfs all I have to do is let the caliper sit on the spring, completely out of the way. And, there is no more hard line to pinch, cut or break.  :dunno:

Can someone give me the size and pitch of the front brake line fittings and front caliper fittings.

Thoughts?  :help:

Same idea.

No one?

So from Roger Brown's site the brake fittings are M10x1.0 inverted flare. What is the Inverted flare?

It's the type of fitting, if you look in the end of the line it's like a cone, that's the inside of the flare, inverted flare, look in the other hole ( where the line goes in ) it's got the opposite shape, that's how it seals.

The banjo bolt into the caliper doesn't matter cuz it's being sealed by the washers, as long as the bolt is not too long.

But the end going to the braided line needs to be a male fitting M10x1.0? Anything more? I almost want to put a 90* in the caliper instead but thier hard to find with both sides metric.

Don't the taco calipers use banjo bolts?  So if you swapped to them then you'd be set  :wink2:
