Length on ToyBox?

I am considering going adding a ToyBox to the drive line I am building.  I am planning on a SBC(350/305)/TH350/ToyBox/LC three spd t-case.  My concern is in the total length.  What is the length of the adapters and ToyBox?

Its about 7inches.  I got 3.5 back by using FJ55 rears on my 40.

Do the FJ55 rear springs move the axle back that far?  Are  they longer than FJ40 springs?  I am currently running Rancho 2 1/2" lift springs in SUA.  I have waited to see if the length will require going with a CV drive shaft or not.  If I have to reposition the rear axle to run the CV shaft I plan on doing a SOA at that time.   The ToyBox is about 7" and the AA adapter is about 6".  The ToyBox is only a few more dollars and a whole lot lower.  ??? Desicions, Desicions.

FJ-55 rears are 3.5 inches longer than FJ-40s!  Its a spring pins are centered, with each side as long  as the long side of the FJ-40 springs - some folks just flip there rear springs for longer wheel base.  I just took the rear spring hangers and flipped them as per Woody's article on //www.ih8mud.com.  I also put FJ-55 rears on my front and did a shackler reversal, in the process, moving moving my front axle about 1.5 inches forward!!

Running either 55 Springs or reversed 40 springs will ive you the added WB.  I'm running stock Waggy 7-leafs in mine SOA, which are a bit longer than a 55.

Anyway, the whole deal with a CV driveshaft is not the length, it's the angles.  Is your pinion rotated up to point at the t-case?  Yes-CV.  no-universal joint.  Minitruck u/v joints are awesome, offering more than 40 degrees of operating angle.

I stopped by Marlin's today to get some more info on the length and the cost.  The conversions that they have done using a SBC/TH350/crawler/LC t-case gave them a very short rear drive shaft.  On one truck they had to move the engine forward a few inches and still only had about 12-13 inches of drive shaft.  I plan on running an electric puller fan and a short water pump on the front of my engine.  This should allow the engine to be moved forward a few inches.  If I can find some FJ55 springs, I will consider running them in the rear for a few more inches.  Still in the planning stages.   :scratch:
