Well im almost done with my 82  on tons and all the other goods. I was going to start doing a little tube work. lite exo over the cab and front clip. When i started thinking about an F toy, By the time i by and do all the work for a exo , i could probly swap a Ftoy on in the same time and call it done.  I just have a few questions. Do you have to move the engine back? see alot of peeps going 8inch back from stock. I know this is to help with weight. But i dont want to run a 2 peace  front D line. Can the engine stay in the stock spot? will the shifter be reachable? or will i be sitting to far back to shift the tranny? Also i am running waggy/ toy  springs up front. and 63 chevys out back. If i go ftoy i will keep the front springs and ditch the boat anchor. What should i run out back? i was thinking toy/ ford combo pack in the rear. This should be an easy swap for me im thinking. My floor and fire wall will just be  some expanded metal. ( i like the idea of seeing everything)  I dont do mud or snow , so i can get away with a holy floor. What are you guys thoughts on all this? My main thought is the engine loc , and rear springs. thanks all

Well i made up my mind, I am going to get my truck running wheel it this summer, and this coming winter ill make it an f toy. I dont want to do all this tube work to make an exo. when what i really want is an f toy, so this winter its on! im going f toy!

The engine can stay in the stock location, the 8" comes from W.E.rock rules in that your allowed to move your engine back 0"-8", most people move back 8", but it's personal preference.

Addressing the rear springs, I would go with Marlin, Allpro, or Trailgear rear springs, because they will fit in the same location. When broken in a pinch it really sucks when you have a custom spring pack.

As long as you're building, go ahead and move the motor back 8".  It will be a royal pain to ever do later.  You equalize your weight (closer to 60:40 than 70:30) and you give yourself room for your winch behind the front crossmember.

If you have an 82, you probably have an L52 tranny, right?  Your shifter will be in a fine spot, and your front driveline won't be too long.

I'm running a W56 with the motor 8" back and the back of my seats even with the b-pillars, and my tranny shifter is in a fairly normal spot (not under my elbow!!)--and I'm 6'-6", so seats are plenty far back for legroom!

If you dont plan on comp then 4 link, hydro steer, four seat, for family. I have been wheeling toys for 30 years and the ftoy is the best for the money. I built this in my back yard in 6 months. 22re 8 inchs back and 2 down, dual cases, 39" tires, its a 2 seater with room for 4
