Rear spring measurements?

I asked this question in the new goodies section but I to no reply.  I was wondering about the spring measurements on the rear springs (marlin).  I was told the front hangar would have to be mounted apx. 6" forward and the rear about 1.5 to 2" back.  that dosent seem to compute.  Are the measurements just flipped the other way or is the longer portion actually in the front?  The reason I ask is I now have some parts if someone wants to extend there 4 runner 10"   Thanks Jase

beats me,   stock rears go up front without too much moding,  but i dont think 6 inches worth

    All toyota 4x4's from79-88   you will have to move the front mount forward 6" and the rear back 1.5"-2.5" If you have a late model truck (non-tacoma) you still have to move the front forward 6" but you dont have to move the rear. The factory springs dont measure equally from center pin to eyelet thats why you move things around. The new ones (I think) are equal center to eyelet both front and back.

Ok, so their measurements are flipped.  My 85 springs are apx 22" (flat spring) center pin to front so moving the mount about 6" forward  ends up closer to the 26 3/4 (measured along an arched spring) not the 29 1/4.  I just wanted to make sure so my gate clears the frame shackles etc. due to the bob job.  Thanks Jase.

The last time I checked Marlin had the measurements on his web site.  The springs are like 56" total length the same as the allpoo's I have on my truck, I had to move the front hanger forward 6" and the rear back 3", but I later removed the rear and put it back almost to the stock position for better shackle angle.

Springs are 1.5" longer than stock and when used with our front hanger will move the front axle forward 1.5".

If I am getting this, To put the rear springs off a 1985 runner on the front of my '81 truck I have to cut, move, and reweld spring hangers, right?
The springs look like they will fit however the center bolt is offset on the rears and not on the fronts, so the front axle will move forward?

On an 85 truck, the front hangers get cut off and new ones installed 6" forward on the frame. In the rear the stock shackle hangers get cut off and rewelded 2"-3" back from stock.

no, they will bolt right in.
this discussion was about marlins aftermarket rear springs.
with them you need to relocate the hangers.
but with stock rears up front all you have to do is build somewhere around a 6 leaf pack and bolt them in.

The rear main leaf is drilled off center. So to build a 6 leaf pack you use some of the old front with the rears to get the center pin position right? Or did I jst do a total brain fade  ?
