Early 22R Cylinder Head
« on: Feb 01, 2010, 07:36:24 PM »
I dont know exactly what year model but I do know it is an early 22R head. It has been rebuilt by a shop here in Dallas. I would consider a trade for a late model 22RE head.

$100 or trade for late model head

located in Dallas

Hi, a few questions:
-Was the head pressure tested for cracks?
-was the deck surfaced?
-Were the valves and guides replaced?
-Any stripped threads or broken bolts?

What would shipping be to 98011 (Seattle area)?

Thanks!

Yes, it was pressure tested, and decked. The valves and guides were only replaced if they were worn, the threads on the fuel pump block off plate were stripped, one was fixed by the shop, the other I fixed with a steel thread insert held in with loctite, the holes still accept an m8x1.25 bolt.

Ill do $125 shipped, but I have one other guy coming to look at it this weekend.

Thanks
Randy

Okay, do you know roughly what year it is? I have an '84 22R (carburated) that I'd like to use it for.

I'm interested in the cylinder head, but would like to be sure it'll work on my block. Let me see if I can count the number of intake bolts - I think that's one of the differences between earlier and newer 22R heads. Assuming that the guy that's looking at it this weekend doesn't take it before then.

Its still up for sale, there are 10 head bolts but they are the same for early and late models. The difference is in the thickness of the head and the shape of the intake/exhaust ports.

It will work on any 22r 79-83 for smog reasons.  The thickness diff in the head  makes it so it WONT work on a 22re block since they are shorter. Meaning you wont get a timing chain to work unless you have a link removed.
