out of the typical 3...detroit/eaton EZ locker, lockrite, and aussie....the aussie is designed better

but another products just came out it's called the spartan locker by Yukon...looks like a quality piece
http://www.ringpinion.com/ProductDetails.aspx?ProdID=8999
randy is typicaly more expensive so i'm sure you can find it cheaper somewhere else

they also make an air locker(zip locker) and "soft locker"(grizzley locker)  with forged 8620 cases/internals..and lower prices then comparable products

here is a good comparison of the lr, aussie, and sparton...sounds like the sparton might actually be better,
I personally bought an aussie, as i bought it before the sparton came out

I run a aussie in the front of my pickup. Works great and I have had no problems with it. The steering binds up when im in a jam on rock though and i cant seem to turn sometimes, have to do a 5 point turn. I just will never run a non selectable locker in the front again.

I put an Aussie in my kids truck and he beats the crap out of it. Works great, no problems yet after 2 years or so.

It's not as silent as they claim. It's still a locker and it behaves like one.

I'm going to replace the TruTrac in my rear soon. They have a V6 version I want to try.

Aussies are IMO way better, heard a TON of lockrites breaking, not a whole lot of aussies breaking. Bro has a aussie in the rear, broke a ring and pinion and the locker was just fine. Had in it there for 4 years now, running great! Cheaper too i think...

i have a lockrite and does just fine. and mine is a daily driver. you can barely hear the click it makes around the corners. and it locks up great on the trail. but thats my opinion.

i have Aussie's front and rear. Easy install. I like them, don't have to shift to 4X4 every time it gets slick or for some quick off road. Better traction on wet roads too. Steering a little tougher but it gets traction and climbs over things you would normally have to steer around. Twin stick would be a plus.

I have an Aussie and I love it! Its my first locker so I have nothing to compare it to but it gets me there. It is noisy when I make tight turns.

i've had aussie lockers before and it never broke on me. no major popping noise, not as bad as lockrites anyway.
i currently have full detroit front and rear....... a buddy of mine has lockrite in the rear and everytime that thng pops, i swear he broke something. GO WITH AUSSIE! If you can go detroit full locker. :driving:

if that popping is that loud, then that lockrite is no good. mine is brand new and it has a small click when i go around corners. it shouldnt pop if its brand new

Sometimes when you take off it will bind up and POP super loud.. The first time it happens to you, youll think you broke something.

I ran a lockright in the rear of my truck until it broke and took out my R&P..

People complaining about the noise of lockers need to get out of the game, your tires make the same amount of noise. Get a limited slip!

The lockrite/aussie/quicklock,etc are lunch box lockers, and work great, but they are not the strength of a locker like the Detroit, that replaces all your stock spidergears, and you bolt the ring gear to the locker. For testimony I have been hammering on my V6 Detroit for right about 6-7 years with 38.5-39.5" tall swampers, and not afraid of the skinny pedel... Im on my third rear R+P, and second EFI motor, and the Detroit still works great... It not only serves for wheeling, but as a dd and is quite smooth and quiet on the road. As for the front you cannot beat a ARB IMO, and with the aid of twinsticks, it makes handling tight obsticales a breeze even with 115+ wheelbase...

I've had no problems with the Aussie locker.  It's quiet and works like a charm.  It only makes a slight clicking sound when turning and you have to have the window down to hear it.  However, you need to be careful on the install measurements they provide.  What that means is if your case and crosspin are slightly worn, replace 'em and replace all the bearings etc..  It's cheap insurance, I believe it cost me an additional $150 for the crosspin and case.  That's my $.02
