Speedo Question

Trying to finish my never ending project. I am running a '87 R151F ( Turbo ) tranny is there a way to change it from a cable driven speedo to a Electronic Speedometer. I found the gauge I want to run but it is electronic.  Can I change it or am I stuck running a mechanical speedo?
