help with transmission
« on: Dec 28, 2009, 04:58:11 PM »
Well i took my truck to the shop today and found out it wasnt just a slave cylinder. something is making alot of noise somewhere near the clutch. so my guess is either a throwout bearing of a bearing in the trany. so im gonna try to drop that tomorrow and figure out what the hell is going on. since its 86 22r the tranny thats in it is a G52 or54 not sure which. There is a guy selling a 5speed t-case & tranny out of a 95 4runner so it should be G58 tranny and chain driven t case. Would that trany bolt up to my bell housing or would the 4runner bell housing bolt up to my 22r block? also would my centerforceII clutch and flywheel work with the 95 tranny. And last question....would my gear driven t-case bolt up to the G58 tranny? Any info you guys can give me is greatly appreciated!

i called the guy and he said they bolted up to his 22re. so my bellhousing should bolt up to the trany and visa versa correct?

I dont  see why uit wouldnt work
IF YOUR LOOKING OUT THE FRONT OF YOUR 4X4 AND YOU CANT SEE THEN JUST TURN ON YOUR WIPERS. BUT THEN THINGS GET ALL MESSED UP LIKE IN LIFE.

WHEN YOU GET TO THE END OF YOUR ROPE JUST THINK THAT ALONG TIME AGO  YOU WERE THE FASTEST LITTLE SWIMMER TO THE EGG

me either. i guess im just double checking because i dont know the differences between th G52/54 tranny vs. G58 or the difference between the RF1A t-case vs the VF1A t-case other than the VF1A is chain driven.

a 95 4runner would have a r150f tranny if it was a v6. if a 22re, it would be g58

yes that tranny out of the 4runner is a g58. it come off a 22re. and my plan is to figure out what im gonna do after i drop the tranny and check the throwout bearing. im still wondering the difference between the g58 and g52/54. From what ive read the g series have 8 bolts on the bell housing. is one weeker than the other? :dunno:

pulled the tranny today. found out the throw out bearin was fine but it was wiggling around on the shaft because the clips that hold it on the shaft and clutch fork bent and fell off. so i gotta wait til thursday to get that in. in the mean time i pulled my tranny cases apart because my intermediat plate has been leaky for some time so im gonna reseal her up. hope to have her runnin again by friday
