I have a 1980 Pickup with a 3 inch body lift. I just bought brand new 33 inch Interco TrXus Mts.(these measure exactly 33.0 in). If i went with some 3 or 4 inch lift springs, would that be too much overall lift for 33 inch tires?

i would go with the lift springs and ditch the body lift.

you could clear the 33s with just the BL

If your wanting to do any aggressive wheeling i would do what snowshoebrue said and go with springs all the way. with 6-7 inches up lift you could stuff some HUGE tires under there with some trimming done which would be overkill if you asked me.. it just depends what your looking to do. let us know what your going for 4x4 wise, what type of terrain, mild wheeling or hardcore, maybe your just wanting to get some better looks for highway driving.. But I promise you there is enough knowledge and good helpful people on here that we will get you hooked up right the first time with information.. look forward to seeing what you got. Get us a picture up so we know what you are working with..  right on Brother!

Ditch the body lift and cut your fenders. You don't need any lift to run 33". You will probably have to hammer the seam at the back of the wheel well. If you want to run highsteer you will need about 2.5" lift from your springs. This with some sheet metal trimming will allow you to run just about any tire size you want. Keeping  your truck low will allow you to enjoy a safe wheeling experience instead of spending all weekend trying to get your rolled over truck home because it was to tall.  :twocents:

id run the 4inch springs and lose or cut down the bl  to and 1inch and a half if you truely want to keep the body lift but those springs are sufficent enough to give you enough lift for the 33s

I know the new tires will fit and I am STAYING with the 33 in tire size. My question is, if i keep the existing 3 inch body lift AND add a 3inch suspension lift, will the 33s look too small?  :stopit:

in my opinion yes.

they will look tiny, u will have room for 38" tires with that much lift

What is the smallest suspension lift i could do with hi-steer?

I think it's 2.5 inches to run high steer. I've got a picture of my truck sitting on 33's with a 2 inch body lift And 4 inch springs. Some angles looked fine but the 33's were too small for sure. let me see if I can dig them up for ya.

This is about right. You could probably get away with less buts it's not really worth the trouble. There is a thread over in engine/suspension about 0 lift highsteer that has some good stuff in it.
I would recomend as a first step deciding what front springs you want to run as this will affect your axle placement front to back.

maybe this will help out for ya. You still gotta watch that point right behind the front tire cause I remember rubbing that when flexing it..

Beautiful truck!! i think it looks just fine, i could run a 3 inch susp lift along with my 2.5 in body lift and that would look fine in my opinion. Then i would have 5.5 in of total lift, whereas you had 6 in.

Samuel, how did you get away with no hi-steer with a 4 inch lift?!

It was scary stuff. It's a drop down adjustable drag link. I don't suggest it one bit. Bone up and get some high steer
this is my truck now still got some work to do.

Thanks, I'll probably wait till i can afford hi-steer to get a susp lift. I don't want to waste money on a draglink I'll just replace later. I don't want to get rid of my body lift, though. It looks like too much work to try and shift around everything in the engine bay.

yea. thats where i'm at now. it is alot of work to take those body lifts off. but i decided to keep mine on so i dont have to beat, hammer, cut, touch, weld,...... so i dont rub. but with my sus. lift and 2in body lift i'll stuff those tires up in there nicely. i'm sure i'll have wish i did different when i flop this thing..     :hammerhead:

Oh man, that's a lot of weight on your left front wheel  :yikes:  Where'd you get them?  You may ask them to try rotating that tire 180 degrees on the wheel next time you go in for a rebalance.
