My guess is that the truck is better off being swapped for a better one.  This whole project will likely eat upwards of $1K by the time you are done.  And that's if you do all of the work yourself.
Amen to that. I should start looking for another first gen.

Go to this site www.22rte-trucks.com. All the info you need you will find you may find a used ct20 aswill. As far as running the truck without the turbo it would be a turd the compretion is to low.

if your going to part it out, I'd at least hold onto the trans/transfer and the rear end for a first gen project if you go that rout

79coyotefrg is right about the ct26. They are inexpensive and plentifull. Im in the process of putting a 22rte back to normal that was converted to a re. The ct20 was cracked in the same area as yours. I just picked up a good ct26 off of craigslist for $100. Theres one on there now for $80.

and if you plan on parting it out put me in line for the rte parts.

The rear end is already under my truck. :gap: I swapped it when I bought my ifs rear end. The wheel cylinders went out on the turbo rear and I told my mom i would save her some money. I am going to try and find a ct26 turbo or a clean running first gen what ever I find first. I found a ct26 turbo but it was from a MR2 and i don't think its the same. I also found a clean 82 locally for $1,700 but someone was in line first and it sold.

MR2 turbo would probably be just as good, maybe not as much voluum as the supra but i'm sure more than the ct20

was that ct26 off of a 2nd gen mr2? or was it one that someone used to make their own turbo kit on an mr2?  either way i would imagine that if its a ct26 then its gotta be the same.  a ct26 is a ct26 no matter what car its on!

They are not the same. The exhaust side is different, also the waste gates are totally different. People use the mr2 ct26, just requires a little more modification than the use of  the supra version.
