I have no idea but I would like to see pics of the rest of the Runner. Do you have a build thread?

most glass shops will not cut, or try to cut them.

search "trackvino" he did an orange runner that was bobbed a few years back- and did plexi windows, there is a full write up in there. ive seen his runner in person a few times, top notch

Sorry Homey, he only has one post. Guess it could be on another site.  :smack:

 :inthedark:

I thought most people trimmed the top in the surrounding area's of the glass. But not through the glass. (Just what I've seen)

I would have done it more towards the front of the top. Where the other windows are at.

Its that attention to detail that we like about your runner too.

I dont have a write up on my build. but here is a few pics.....
before the bob job

sliders

bumper

 after the bob job

I cut it in the rear window so the front windows will still open for my pup to hang his head out.
I called on about getting the tempered glass cut and they said it cant be done so i guess that means i'm going with plexi.

try to cut it yourself with a 4 inch diamond blade on a grinder.
harbor freight has them for 8.99  keep it wet and it MIGHT not break.

i use them them for cutting tile and granite, and i have screwed around and cut up beer bottles and stuff.

im not saying it will be easy but you dont really have much to lose, and if you could find someone who did tile or granite/stone work that would help alot.

My buddy got laminated glass and they cut the window out from his dimensons, all he had to do was figure out how to seal it to the bobbed top

no way to cut temperd glass dont even try. its the nature of it, it becomes brittle.  if you lots of cash have a local glass blower make you one or get som lexan (fish tank type of plexi) and use the old glass as a template.
put em both in a oven and slowly melt the lexan over the glass

That's a clean Runner. I like the bumper I am working on one similar but I used 3X6 steel for a little more area to add tube and a spare tire rack. Sorry I'm no help with the glass.

I dont like BOB anymore, he's stupid. I want Stretch. He climbs hills better than Bob does anyways.

You can use urethane to glue them in .They won't leak. That's what holds the windshield in.I do bodywork for a living about 12 years now. It gets hard as a rock or call a glass company to install them.Nice looking truck.

Hey man, I just barely found your thread. I bobbed my runner 10" and was in the same spot you are in. I used plexi glass and made templates out of card paper with the bends in them. Then transfered that template to the plexy glass and cut it out with a jig saw very carefully. Then you clamp the top of the plexi window to the top of your original glass window, and heat up the bent part with a heat gun and slowly bend it over. You kinda only get one shot at it so make sure that it's right on. Then if you did everything right your plexi windows will fit. I then took them and had them tinted and urithene'd(spelling) them in myself. They work well and don't leak, so I guess I did ok. Ill try to dig up some pics for ya.
Hope this helps man.

Im in love with that orange 4runner. Anyways, I just bought a 88 4runner, no bob job, but it does have a plexi window on the shell. Looks like the guy just cut plexi out in the shape of the window, and heated it like other people say. It works fine, and doesnt leak.
