ok well its my first toyota and build but im starting with a 1983 toyota sr5 i got it for 1700. i have always wanted a first gen and now i got one. when i first got it it leaked from the rear diff, knuckels and front main,. i fixed all that plus the nasty camo paint job.

plans are chevy rears and rears up front 5:29s lock f/r and duals and 35s or 37s

nice to see you did make one. So if that doesn't work I was pondering your truck I mean i'd do the emission plugs but also I think its vapor locking so if it were me I would research that and see what would cause that.

ok so actually i searched for you and with the 22r id say that it is a vacuum problem or a vapor locking problem quite possible something to do with the choke. When it starts to sputter and die does it usually smoke to or no?

If it is vapor locking than you should check to see if you have a vented gas cap and if so you should see if the fuel return line is clogged. If its not vented you need one. Also could just be a bad cap.

Other problems: fuel lines are to close to hot area's. If your actually getting a vapor lock your fuel is going into your carb as a gas instead of a liquid. Reason I have behing thinking vapor lock is the problem is because its only when its warm that it starts to be retarded.

If I'm wrong it could be the choke not shutting off toyotas have a choke sensor ran by vacuum which won't allow it to shut the choke off at the proper heat so when it gets warm its just getting to much fuel and cutting out and dying.

Also Does your motor have good ground straps, or any ground straps for that matter?

After you plug all the vacuum lines first thing I would do also is spray around the intake with some wd40 or break clean to see if you have a leak on your intake somewhere.

haha lots of possibilties. The one I found the most info on hadnt been fixed yet but he hadn't tried any of those solutions. What he did try was fuel pump, carb, fuel lines and some other stuff, he was looking for a sensor for the choke thing but couldnt find one and hasn't fixed it yet so ill keep lookin it up and checkin it out for ya.
