Now how do I get this off! FSM says to remove the six bolts and them smack it with a rubber mallet. It also said nothing about the AC  or power steering.

did you remember the hidden bolt under the valve cover at the front of the head?

also i think you have to remove the water pump, since some of those bolts are pretty long...

the timeing chain defffently had fun with something. i would pull the timing chain cover and see what the damage is.

looks like part of a guide in there. get metal ones.

kyle is right. there is a 6mm bolt under the distributor gear in the rocker area.  wasted guides is nothing new if you've got the 85-95
short deck motor anyway...they're plastic...

Ya it's been a little lound for a while. :smack: The chain ate into the cover a little but it's not bad. :beerchug: He found two water pump bolts and the top bolt under the timming chain. Neither of these's were in the 85 fsm. I think I was just to tire and nervious about having my motor apart for the first time.

yhep too much to do and not enough motivation. I know that once I get it done it's just going to sit there calling for me to take it wheeling and I find it hard to make the time to use it. I've thought about selling it but she's kinda family now.

I started putting the puzzle back together last night. I have the valve cover, oil pan and ac on now. I haven't done the rest because I'm trying to remove a bolt I found broken off on the exhaust.
WT do you remember where we put thoese two water pump bolts??

I put them on the bumper along with the oil pump bolt.  You might have bumped them down by the winch cable.
