Brake Issues
« on: Nov 16, 2009, 05:02:20 PM »
Ok. I have new calipers and the pads and rotors are in excellent shape. It pulls hard left when I hit the brakes. I have bled the brakes but this still occurs. Should I have them powerbled?  :turtle: :rivers:

Your tire will grab on that side or want to due to rotational torque(technically the entire axle will want to push back when you brake but the main mounts keep THAT from happening).  Without the sway bar in as well, it will pull harder to that side as a result, since the initial jerk will cause the truck to lean more that way without it installed.

forget the torque rod. heres a stumper. When I first start the truck in the morning, i go down my driveway and slam the brakes. the front tires lock up (35s). when i get going more the brakes get crappier and wont lock the tires up. Im askin if theres a fluid problem or what. Oh, and yellow lights scare the crap out of me when Im drivin through a busy city.

(it'd be aight)  What kind of shape are your rear shocks in? Is one missing? Just a hunch, but i've also seen broken pitman arms cause this.

Pulling is going to be the torque rod, I usually put a shock or stabilizer in place of the rod when I lifted any Toyota. It does work, just make sure that the shock is almost bottomed out when sitting on flat level ground. The fade issue could be contaminated brake fluid or just old and weak fluid. You might also be overheating the brakes with the larger tires, lift and such. The proportioning valve may not be working properly if you didn't accommodate for the lift. This could cause improper distribution of braking to the axles. Most people like myself disconnect the valve when going to tires 33" and up.
