RogueRunner

1990 toyota 4Runner SR5 3.0 5speed.  I bought this 4runner about three years ago from a dealer, and it has been through hell and back and it has always brought me back.  About a year after owning it, the LF brass axle bushing went out, replaced it and after a while the 4x4 stopped working, I then ended up buying a new Dmax truck.

After a few months of it sitting, I felt bad for it, So I decided to do the SAS swap, but with any project I take on, I seem to go way over budget and way over board with it

So far this is what I have done

5" Long travel Leafs up front, Took the Axle out of an 84 4 runner and re-did everything on it, re welded the welds, new axle truss, Ballistic Fab HD Leaf spring Pads, complete knuckle gusset kit, diamond plate style rock armor, Powder Coated inside inside and out.

2"x3" custom spring hanger moved 1 3/4" forward, re-enforced (plated with 3/16" ) radiator cross member, Boom-a-rang shackles powder coated, six shooter knuckles with high steer arms.

Plans:
High Pinion 5.29's with ARB Air Locker
Bilstein 7100 14" short body Shocks
Dirty 30's axles
3/4" heims
After Market  P/S Pump Kit
Custom Drive Shaft Balanced?

Rear:
6" 53" springs w/ boom -a- rang shackles
5.29 with ARB Locker
Ballistic Fab HD Leaf spring Pads
Bilstein 7100 12" Short Body Shocks
Rear Disc Brake Conversion
22 Gallon JAZ fuel cell Frenched through floor

Engine/Drive Train/Misc.
Dual Cases (many questions reguarding that)
Marlin HD Competition Clutch Kit
Headers/custom exhaust
Internal Cage
2x4" rock sliders

I want a clean look, very little change to the body with the exception of front bumper and I plan to do a lot of driving in the winter months with this, Tahoe and I plan to move to Alaska in a few years and would like to be able to have a dependable and very capable family rig.  Any Idea's or suggestions are welcomed

Keep posting I want to see pics.  Who did your powder coat, we use Scott at S&S over by Costco ?  Sounds like a very good build.

This runner needs some pics posted. What size tires are you going to run? I would run Marlin cases nothing else.

maybe instead of the dirty30 it might be cheaper to pull your axles and have bobby long treat them

What does it cost to have them done and how do they compare strength wise to a stocker or a 30spline longfeild?

I will be posting pics on here as soon as I find out how to do it, I have pictures of it before and while its under constructions on my myspace page www.myspace.com/speedfreak41x I had a friend over in morgan hill powder coat the axle.  I just got done ordering all the studs and everything to get it up and rolling.  I don't have high pinion yet for the front and I am using the rear case from the set that I blew up so I can still have the ABS and the V6 carrier.  Main reason why I am going with the Dirty 30's is because I got a really good deal on them, $150 cash and bent two pieces of roll bar tubing for them.  I have a set of 36" IROK's for it, planning on getting a set of 37s for it after I get it up and running.

If you are around Santa Cruz and want to check it out, my shop is off of 17th ave, I work on cars all day long (smog tech/mechanic) and I fabricate race cars and custom thing most nights during the week, John Rood Smog & Repairs is where I work and the runner lives there too! If you are in the area, feel free to come by and check it all out! If you need any type of fabrication work let me know.

I'm going at this project slowly because of money constraints, growing family and well I want to make sure this thing is damn near bullet proof, Doin' it right the first time.

About the dual transfer case set ups, I have a stock chain drive 23 spline case, I want to dual case it but don't want to have to go out and buy two transfer cases to do so, so how can I use my stock transfer case and another gear drive case together, and would it be possible to put in the 4.7 upgrades in one or both cases?
