I found a complete rearend out of a 2001 Tacoma with an E-Locker for $250. Only thing is it needs a pinion gear and I am sure some it'll need some bearings and a pinion seal. Now my question is could I just use a set of 4.10s from my 87 Truck to rebuild this or would I have to buy a r&p for a 2001 Tacoma.
Also instead of modifying an IFS housing could I just put the complete rear out of the 01 Taco in? I know it'll require some welding/cutting and I am prepared for that and I know it is about 1.5" wider than an IFS housing.
If I use just the 3rd member and modify my IFS housing aren't the spline counts different from an 01 and an 87? Thanks guys I'll start a build thread once I get rolling on this.
Is $250 a reasonable price for one that "just needs a pinion". I think it'd be a good idea to pull the axles and take a look at the carrier and gears don't you guys?
If it needs a pinion it also needs a ring gear. They are a matched set, you will also need an install kit to complete the deal.
