transfer case D.S. drop
« on: Oct 22, 2009, 03:44:42 PM »
If I use the manual tranny that comes behind the 5vz on my 1990, wouldn't the drive shaft drop on the driver side? If so, Is there an an adapter that will make the transfer case drop my drive shaft to the passenger side?

http://www.marlincrawler.com/transfer-case/t/c-adapters/1995-2004-5vz-fe-34-liter-v6-drivetrains

then just put a regular gear driven t-case(which can be the one off your truck if it had one) from a pre-taco truck

are you using this in your 90 truck??  or a buggy of some sort??

your transmission should bea  R150  of which had a pass side drop factory but it was a chain driven case

if using a 3.4 liter v6 trans, then you can still put the pass side drop tcase on it i believe

So this product will drop my drive shaft on the passenger side? Would I have to modify crossmember for the tranny to fit?

I'm going to do a 5vz swap and using the manual tranny it comes with. Is marlins' adapter the only thing i need that will drop my drive shaft to the passenger side? :nonono: Will i need to modify my 1990 crossmember for the 5vz tranny to fit? :headscratch: What other problems might i run into when doing the swap? ???
