Story: http://blogs.orlandosentinel.com/features_momsatwork/2009/10/grandma-for-sale-on-ebay.html

Quote from: OrlandoSentinelMarian Goodall is a disabled 61-year-old grandmother who lives with her son’s family. She is recovering from knee surgery, and apparently her 10-year-old granddaughter is growing weary of caring for granny.

Zoe put "Nan" on eBay, calling her grandmother "annoying" but "very cuddly and loves word searches."

The bids got to $3,276 before eBay removed the listing because it violated its policy banning the sale of, well, human beings.

Little Zoe says that the prank was all in good fun, and that she had no idea her grandmother would get such high bids.

Grandma Goodall's only objection with being put on the auction block?

"I'm worth millions," she said.

Is this as detestable and wrong as I think it is? Or am I just cranky this morning, and need to get a sense of humor?

hahahaha I think this is funny, although I do agree with another site visitor who commented, "What is a 10 year old doing on eBay? Wow how fast grow up these days." Good point. When I was 10 I was digging elaborate tunnel systems in the dirt :gap:

We didn't have all these neat gadgets when we were kids, we were forced to go outside and play... well, not really forced, I think I was forced to come inside when I was 10!  Fat kids were a rarity when I was that age, now they seem to almost be the norm  :shake:

That said, it is pretty funny that she got up to over $3,000  :haha:

Darn right, and if it was cold enough you'd be wearing a coat -- and shorts. And if the mud puddles got big enough, you'd be looking for a fishing pole....   :therethere:

I was a fat kid at 10 and I was still outside playing my ass off. Exploring the greenbelt behind my house, trying to bounce my skinny friends off the trampoline, catching crawfish. Those were the days...

Oh yea, when we were little we could still explore all through the valley and hills near the house, basically just tear off into the woods from across the street.  Used to even be able to jump on the dirt bike, "push" it across the street and rip off into the hills  :gap:

And when it would rain, we would build simple wooden boats attach a piece of string and drag them down the gutter behind our bikes.  Mom would hate us coming in soaking wet with muddy stripes up our backs!

I can hear her now yelling at us " It's dark out!  Don't you know when to come in?"

Nah, I'll pay my dues before I walk a mile in her shoes - I'm a long ways away yet. But you on the other hand will beat me to it :hahaha:
