Shock ing question

anyways i bought Bilstein 5125 Shocks with the hoops, welded hoops on , put shock in and measure i got 8 3/4" up and only 3 1/4" down, and not sure now, dont i want it so i have 6 up and 6 down or what  ??? i have never done anything like this be for so i dont know what im looking for...

help me out please

measure from your bump stops to the stop and see how much room is there ok, say 4 inches,  that means you need 4 1/2 inches up travel, so the bump STOPS before the shock does

ok and your saying just worry about the up not the down right? down b what ever is left over after doing the bump stop?

you could relocate your hoop. but easyer asuming you have 12" shocks is get some 14" shocks.
i like to have about 4-5" of up travel and the rest down travel
