If you haven't already, go to our League Office and there is a huge red ALERT notice. It says, Your league’s draft room is open!, and click the link that says "Launch Draft".

The draft will start in about 18 mins

I'm bummed toyotanner and Richmondo didn't make it in.

Did you guys pick any defensive players?

I didn't enable the scoring system for defensive players, so it didn't advise us to pick defensive players, so I enabled the defensive players scoring system.

Should we only worry about offensive scoring?

If we do defensive, and no one picked any good defensive players, then there must be a TON of good defensive players in the freeagent section right now, so if we choose to do this, then you should drop some players you don't need and pickup some defensive players.

You'll only need LB (linebackers), DL (defensive linesmen), DB( defensive back), and a D/ST team

I let the autodraft do everything for me since I didn't know if I was going to be here to participate.  I ended up with Tom Brady as my QB.  Hopefully he is fully healed from his injury from last season.

So I think the best thing to do is examine your players schedule this week, and if you find that one of your players on your bench is playing against a weak team, then you might assume he is going have a great game, so put him in instead of someone else, etcetera. There is some strategy here and I think we need to be shuffling our starting players every week for best performance (point total) of your team each week

Where are the rules located.   I need to know if I can use a bench player for a team playing tonight and then bench him tomorrow for a player playing on Sunday.

If you click on the "My Team" tab up top and view your Roster, then you can click on the MOVE button on a benched player, and a green HERE button will appear above amongst your starters. You can shuffle players around like this.

I am not sure, but I believe that once the first game of the week begins, which would be tonight @ 5:30 pm PST, then your starters will be 'locked' in place until the last game of the week.


I think I did OK but it looks like my star DB is "Probable" and might not play this week, and I don't have any other DBs. So I am playing around in the Free Agent section right now. To get there, go to the Players tab, and click on the Free Agents link just below tabs.

Ok, once in the Free Agent section, you can click on the [ Claim ] link. If your roster is already full, then you will be prompted to add a check mark next to an existing player on your roster that you would like to drop in order to add the Free Agent to your team.

I just did this and now it says that it is pending, and I have a "Waiver Claim". Once I figure out what this is I'll let everyone know


EDIT: Yikes! I just got a notice that my pending trade will "process at approximately Sep 13, 3:00 AM ET.". Ok, that is after the weekend, so if my lone DB doesn't play this weekend, then I'll be out a bunch of points

Ok, because we are new at this, I set it up so that we can do instant trades right now with the Free-Agent list. I think we should set this to a 24 or 48-hour review period, but for now, since the draft went so quick and a couple ppl weren't even around for it, let's allow trades for the first week or two, and then when we get the hang of it, I'll set a review period. More info on trades below.

Trade Review
This is the process where the league decides if a pending trade is fair. As the LM you set the span of time for the pending trade is open for league review (24 hours, 48 hours or 72 hours) or can choose trades to process automatically after they are accepted. This setting can be changed at any time during the season.

Votes Required to Veto Trade
As the LM you have the option to select a trade veto policy, which is usually done to prevent collusion between two teams. The default setting is that only you as the LM can veto pending trades, and you have the option to allow your fellow league members to vote on it. If you wish to allow your league owners to vote on pending trades, select the number of teams require to veto the trade. This option can change at any time during the season.

FA/Waiver Acquisition Limit
As the LM you have the option to set the number of player acquisitions that each team is allowed through free agency or waivers. Most leagues will select 'No Limit', where teams have no restrictions on adding players to their team. If 'None Allowed' is selected only you -- the LM -- can add players to teams. This setting can be changed at any time during the season.

Waiver Period
Set the number of days players spend on waivers after each week or if they are dropped from a team. The weekly waiver period begins on Tuesday AM so if '2 Days' is selected waivers clear each week on Thursday AM. This setting can be changed at any time during the season.

Waiver System
The waiver order determines which team has the first chance to claim a player on waivers. The default setting is 'Resets every Tuesday...' and if selected the team in last place will be reset to first in the waiver order each week. The second choice is 'Move to last after claim...' and if selected, the waiver order does not reset on a weekly basis. Note: Regardless of which option is selected, after a team makes a waiver selection that team is shifted to the final waiver position. This setting can be changed at any time during the season.

Observe Undroppable Players List
The Undroppable list is comprised of players ESPN's deems too valuable to be dropped from a team to waivers and is a feature to prevent collusion and tanking. The Undroppable setting can be edited at any time during the season.

Well, I managed to sneak in there to live draft.  I didn't see the chat box till over half way through and I was sneaking in when my pics came up so I didn't have a chance to chat at all. 

I picked last, but that means I had two pics in a row.  Pretty happy with my team.  Last season was the first time I ever played and we had only a D/ST so I'm not sure how the defensive player scoring works, but we'll figure it out.

I agree, making the trades/adds/drops immediate for now so we can work out our team, especially the guys who were on auto pic.

Hey guys-

Check this out, my friend has his league scoring setup a bit different than ours. These are the changes in his scoring setup compared to what we are using right now:

** All TDs are worth 6 points (just like in real life), that is everything including TD pass, rushing TD, receiving TD, interception/blocked punt/kickoff/punt returned for a TD, fumble returned for a TD, etcetera

** QB:
1 pt per completion
1 pt for every 25 passing yards
-2 pts per interception

** RB:
1 pt per every 5 attempts

** WR:
1 pt per reception

** Miscellaneous:
1 pt for every 10 kickoff return yards
1 pt for every 10 punt return yards
-2 pts for fumble lost

** Defensive Players:
1 pt per fumble forced
3 pts per each interception
0.5 pts per each pass defended

** Team Defense:
-1 pt if 22-27 points are allowed
-4 pts if 28-34 points allowed
-7 pts if 35-45 points allowed
-10 pts if 46+ points allowed

So I am just wondering if you guys think we should just leave our scoring the way it is, or if you think it should be changed? His reasoning is that there is a lot more going on that our players are not getting scored for, such as the 1 pt per rushing attempt. If you have a running that is just pounding it up the middle play after play, shouldn't he earn you some points regardless if he never scores a TD? Now average rushers will get points instead of only star rushers. Or another example is 1 pt per passing completion.

Both the QB and the receiver will receive 6 points each.


I am not set on how to score everything.... I am just trying to make the defensive players more of an impact, because they really don't do much right now. Also, I like the idea of getting points for every 25 yrd passing, and for every RB attempt; at least this way players become more equal because every QB is passing for 25 yrds (so they should get points) and every RB is getting some touches (so they should get points).

Amend with the following additions?

WR: 1 pt per reception Miscellaneous: 1 pt for every 10 kickoff return yards 1 pt for every 10 punt return yards -2 pts for fumble lost

Defensive Players: 1 pt per fumble forced 3 pts per each interception 0.5 pts per each pass defended Team Defense: -1 pt if 22-27 points are allowed -4 pts if 28-34 points allowed -7 pts if 35-45 points allowed -10 pts if 46+ points allowed

Additionally, any other TD - be it fumble recovery/interception/blocked punt/etc - will be changed to 6 pts instead of 4 pts.
