efi adapter for hybrid engine
« on: Oct 31, 2004, 08:48:38 PM »
Just curious if anybody has tried putting the stock 22re efi setup on a hybrid 20r/22r engine.  I have everything I need, hopefully, but in order to mate the intake plenum to the 20r head I'll undoubtedly have to make an adapter plate or new runners.  I was eyeballin it the other day and it looks like I could unbolt the stock runners and have new ones made to bolt it up, but it never works as easily as it should......Nate

Yes, you can run a 22R-E EFI intake manifold on a 20R or 22R head, but it will require some tig welding to fiil in the gaps between the ports.

I have seen it done and Im sure someone on here has more to say about it.

i think the way to go on a 20R would be to build your own manifold out of steel and run something like SDS efi.  the only hard part i'd think there is about building the manifold would be to have your injector bosses chamfered and lining everythiing up for the fuel rail.  of course you could always use screw-in injectors but i never figured things out myself :dunno:

I think BigMike has a better idea than I did, probably easier anyway.  I was hopin to have it figured out and ready to drop in after the truck hit 500,000 miles, but with just over 100 mi left to go I don't think it's gonna happen, unless it blows up tomorrow........................Nate
