I have this problem on my dads jeep involving electrical. For a while it wouldn't start so it had to be bump started but then it started to start on its on but now wont turn off. We just replaced the ignition box today and it still does it. What would cause the engine to keep running with the key in the off position? Any ideas? :help:

if your workin on a cj, the ignition box can actually slide and be adjusted on top of the column. losin the 4 5/16's bolts and slide it up. the actuating rod maybe just not able to "slide" far enough

works both ways, maybe not enough throw to hit the "start" position, maybe not enough "pull" to kill it

Yea it is a cj and yea we tried that even replaced it and then manually moved it with a screwdriver with it off thge steering colum but it kept running. I think two wires are crossed somewhere in the wire loom or something. Its a bit old and has been used so i think that might be it but thanks for the input
