is it possible to build a shim like this to correct the camber
NO
is there any way to ajust the camber on a soild axle ? ive read posts on here, 1 guy said something about a spindle shim . if so do you got to get a special made?
That shim doesnt adjust the camber. It only adjusts the preload on the knuckle bearings.
i got new bearings and seals just rebuilt the knuckles and axle . the tires are like this \ / i put a stright edge on the tire and cheked it with a degree finder and it was 1 degree off vertical on both sides . i also put longfield 30 splin super axles in it and they went in just fine.
so what the hell do these shims look like? I'm curious.....
Yes, there is a shim that bolts between the spindle and knuckle...they do exist. I installed one of these shims when I used to work at tire pros. The only thing is it screws up the alignment of your inner axle.... If you talk to a good reputable alignment shop, they should know what your are talking about and be able to get you one. I would make sure it isnt a bent housing, or worn bearings first though, since thats most commonly why your camber is out. Does your axle have negative or positve camber??? If its postive then maybe you do need a shim.
Ok, after doing internet research there is a solution.Somebody somewhere makes smaller OD offset king pin bearings, they go for about $250 (so says the internet) but mis-align your axle shafts. So, for $250 you can put on a bandaid, or for $250 you can buy a front housing that's not bent.
