New Product - Rear 4" Leaf Springs & Kits
« on: Oct 20, 2004, 09:53:21 AM »
Our new rear leaf springs are now in production. These new springs will be a 4" lift, and 56" long. Both front and rear hangers will need to be relocated on 79-88 toys, 89-95 only the front hanger will need to be moved forward. Spring packs include top anti wrap torque leaf. These spring are made start to finish here in the USA.

How do these compare with brand "A" springs? To start with they will be a more flexible, softer ride. Superior heat treat process that resists early fatigue and bending of the leafs, allowing the springs to last longer and maintain lift without sagging. Springs are 1/2" longer than similar sized 4" springs for better shackle angle. Our springs are made completely here in the US, brand "A" springs are made in Mexico.

Price $349 per pair including bushings.

Rear Kit price $649. Includes, springs, Bilstein shocks, rear flip kit, rear perches, shock mounts, shackles, and brake line.

Our 1979-1985 Ultimate lift kit featuring our USA built springs front and rear. Kit will include, front and rear 4" springs, shackles, front hanger, rear hangers, 4 bilstein shocks, shock hoops, steering stablizer, rear shock mounts, flip kits, rear perches, set of three brake lines, high steer kit with mount. Ultimate Lift Kit $1,795

So the Ultimate Kit - would that be for a 1986-1989 4runner running 35" MTRs? Would that include everything in your Front Solid Axle Swap kit (including spacers and bumpstops (not mentioned in your post)?

If so, to run 35" MTRs what backspacing would I order on my rims? and what modifications would I need to do so that they don't rub? (Meaning do I just need to smooth the inner seam in the drivers wheel well?)

Thanks,
Tim

That depends on the axle, what axle are we talking about?

Toyota axle off of a 84 Toyota pickup. I'm guessing that the answer will have backspacing for the wheels and how big the front spacers need to be?

Thanks, Tim

I would not recommend using that axle. You would need a wheel offset as far out as possable, like 2" in further than stock wheels.  I would switch to the 3" wider 1986 and later rear axle, and then use offset wheels on top of that.

Up front you can use 1.5" wheel spacers to match the rear.

can you sell this kit with stock srping locations for an 85 4runner i know the rear springs would have to be shorter. How do you think it would work and how much would it cost?

No shorter rear lift springs do not work well. We do not plan that.

To use our springs you will need to relocate the hangers.

So if I understand correctly the rear springs are the same dimensions as 89+ rear springs?  I hope so I NEED a set for the front of my truck!
Full hydro, 186:1 with an auto and 44's what could go wrong??

What kind of wheel travel could a person expect out of the '79-'85 Ultimate lift kit? And does this kit result in moving the hangers on the front of the truck?
In the mean time I will try to explain to the ol'lady why I so badly need this lift kit...
84 Toyota- Cost $800, BS 3" Rancho Lift, Worn out RS5000s, 32" A/T's, Burned up Radio, New Plugs, and Wires

86 Chevy- Cost $500, Dead Battery, Out of Registration, No Inspection, a few holes in the bed

03 F150- Cost I still cry about, K&N FIPK, Dumped Flowmaster, Pioneer Head Unit and AMP, 4 ways and 10" Sub
03 F150- Company Truck, Stupid useless tonneau cover, stupid sticker telling everyone who I work for, wasted space in my driveway

Front hangers on the front of the truck would be replaced. All four hangers on the rear of the truck will need to be changes. Ramp numbers will change with whelbase and weight, but shoud be around 1000 rti when loaded for the trail assuming shortbed cab.

maybe a dumb question, but how does this kit affect the pinion angle for both front and rear?

If it helps: Regular cab '84.

By the way, thank you for the quick response Chris.

By the way, thank you for the quick response Chris.

In the front we recommend you cut and turn the knuckles or install a high pinion 3rd member.

In the rear we recommend you cut the rear perches off, rotate the pinion so it points at the tcase, weld on new perches and install a CV on the tcase end of the drive shaft.

The measurements for for the rear springs seem backwards, wouldnt the longer side of the spring be in the rear?  I was told that on a 85 runner the front mount would be apx. 6" forward and have to move the rear back about 1.5 to 2. inches for those springs (unless missinformed). That wouldnt come out right for those measurements.

Yep it looks like I had the measurements backward. The correct measurements are

Center pin to front 27"

Center pin to rear 29 5/8"

Overall length 56 5/8"

We just received our first order of production US made, rear springs and they are looking sweet!  Rear springs are now shipping!
