Half Doors
« on: Oct 18, 2004, 10:45:43 PM »
I am building some half doors that look similar to Marlins. I have everything figured out minus what do about the door latch.  I have seen like Hyena, where he just hooked up a wire that you can pull.  But I want to see some other ideas, like maybe use the stock latch and have it mounted horizontal in the little "arm rest" section instead of vertical on the door.  I wanna do something that looks professional because this truck has to represent the work I do.  It's going to be a TTF Fabrication shop truck so I want to do unique stuff to represent the shop.

I got one door cut to shapel, and I found a much more simple way to have a door latch.  I am going to weld on a piece of 1/4" rod to the existing latch sticking out so I can just push down on it and the door will open.  I just need to cut the passenger side door now and then weld in the sheet metal.  Pictures soon!

If you cut the back part low enough you don't have to make anything.  you can just push the latch down and it will open.  I have 3 firends who did that and still use.  I wanted to do something different though.

Marlin's doors just have a small button on the factory latch rod. Just push down and the door pops open like a factory setup.
